CHARACTER PITCH: Kim is the straight man of a buddy cop duo, though as things wear on in the story, we learn he's a bit eccentric in his own ways. He's as big of a nerd as he appears, but also has an affinity for speed metal, drag racing, and tailors his own clothes. He's prideful, and goes to painstaking lengths to make himself seem as cool as possible, while not wanting to be perceived, at all. He tells white lies with no qualms at all, but can also be as blunt as a kick in the throat. Kim's kindness is his greatest strength, especially since it is kindness in the truest sense-- sometimes kindness isn't being nice, it's telling someone what they need to hear.

POWERS: Kim is a normal human man with no supernatural powers to speak of, except for maybe a latent psychic connection to the city he lives in. It's possible that everyone in his world has something similar, but while his city is apparently dead, it will be severed, regardless.

QUESTIONNAIRE

What is the worst or most malicious thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Kim has killed people in the line of duty as a peace corps officer. It was never done out of malice, and was always a last resort. He's compartmentalized the guilt, but it dissuades him from using lethal force indiscriminately, if at all.

What is the most altruistic or selfless thing your character has ever done? How do they feel about it now? Was this sort of action typical of them?

Kim works hard to be everything he believes a member of the RCM should be: A just and efficient representative of laws meant to protect the citizens of Revachol. Altruism seems to be in his very nature, but of what we see in canon, Kim's most selfless acts relate to Harry Du Bois.

When saddled with the alcoholic, amnesiac detective as a partner, Kim was facing down a murder case that could potentially erupt into a violent labor dispute. Kim refused to abandon the case, in the interest of preventing further unrest in Revachol, and by proxy, he refused to abandon Harry, a man completely adrift and seen by others as beyond help. Though initially acting in the interest of the case, Kim shows Harry kindness that inspires him to restart his life as a better person, whether it be comforting him through the trauma of the case, or pushing him to get his shit together to solve it.

What do they desire above all else? How far would they go to accomplish their goals or fulfill those desires? Do they have lines they wouldn't cross?

Kim wants Revachol to be a free state that prospers on its own, and to be a safe place for people to live again. It's hinted that he could take part in a future revolution to make this happen, but at the root of it all, Kim is haunted by senseless hate and death. He'll do everything he can to avoid innocent people getting hurt, and has killed people to protect himself and others.

In Aion Teleos, his motivations and morality will remain much the same, but now in the interest of reviving Revachol, and any other worlds lost.

GAME DETAILS

LEGACY: Martyr. Kim has devoted himself to serving the citizens of Revachol in the RCM, and is renowned as one of its best detectives. Though he often seals away his emotions, he has deep empathy for those who try to live dignified lives even in the face of extreme poverty. He protects them to the point where he doesn't have much of a personal life. His work is one of his greater passions.
INTRODUCTORY SECT: Pleroma. Kim has endured hatred and alienation his whole life, and watched his beloved city endure the generational trauma of economic crises and political pogroms. Through it all, he's held on to hopes of bettering himself and Revachol, and wants nothing more than people to be united in support of each other.
SUITABILITY: Kim has a revolutionary streak in him, and I hope to explore that by having him side with the Pleroma. He will be utterly devoted to restoring Revachol and its people, and he'll be forced to deal with some of his own emotional issues as a result of dealing with a wider cast of characters.
